Berry Elementary

What Jr High (s) did you attend?

Burbank Junior High School

Do you see or hang out with any class mates? Who?

No - I communicated with a few when we had a site on CLASSMATES.COM

What would we be surprised to know about you?

My long blond, every hair in place is now
short, natural curley and all over my head - almost out-of control.
I was shy/quite in high school, but I am very much a people person and love having fun and dancing. My friends say that my curley hair fits my outgoing personality.
I love to wear jeans that are split up the side and act like I don't notice the commotion that they cause.
I love Opera, but I have been a country music booking agent for local bands for awhile now. I do charity events, publicity for local bars and pulicity, photo shoots for local bands.
I am taking 2010 off to "tie up some loose ends in my life" and dedicate a little more time to the book that I am writing.

Where was your favorite HS hangout?

Prince's on North Shepard, Tradewinds Roller Rink on W. 34, Granada Theater and T&L Restuarant on Jensen Drive, and Carol Nelson's house (my best girlfriend and classmate at SH), all in Houston.

School Story:

Parties that Carol Nelson and I had quite often at her house, Melrose Park and one upstairs in the T&L Restuarant.
Two years of wonderful memories of Cosmetology in Frieda Carpenter's class with Sue, Annette, Shiela, Lois, Judy, Johnnie, Sherry, Janet and the other gals. Being an officer in V.I.C. and going to all of the state meets and being a part of the Cosmetology fun parties with the FHA guys.

Favorite Quote

"If you ain't the lead dog, the scenery never changes".
"Every root that encounters a stone finds a way around it". My whole adult life seems to have been patterened after that one!

Famous or interesting people you've met?

Bar People - quite surprising. A wide array of personality types. Yes some drink way too much (by somebody's standards) and a lot of the people I have met are just fun-loving Christians, like myself. When it come to donating to a chairity event, they all have deep pockets and love to help someone in need.
Kenny Rogers (the singer) is my cousin and in early childhood dubbed me with the nickname "BJ" and it has stuck with me for life.
Other famous: Billy Graham, The original Statler Brothers, Tracey Lawrence, Gene Watson, Clint Black, Enya, B.J. Thomas, Mickey Gilley - a lot of country singers; I'm having a "senior moment here".

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Photography. Watch People. Act Silly. Dance. Gardening. Artistic Stuff. Entertaing my friends at home. Watching the birds and squirels in my back yard.
Having a glass of wine on my back deck every afternoon with my music going full blast while my little girl (in a dog suit) chews her soup bone that I cook for her faithfully every week. She's my third Boyking Spaniel and her breed is the State Dog of South Carolina.
Keeping up with current affairs and the latest news from the BSR (Boykin Spaniel Society).
Going to the movies or catching a good one on TV. I like the ones that turn out so good they make me cry buckets and movies that always have an unexpected twist.
And, of course my country music activities, attending the opera, musicals of

Name something you dearly love. and why?

Being alive because I almost wasn't in Nov., 2002.
Living in the USA because we are blessed with the freedoms that we have and the wars that we don't.
Being Texas born and bred, I love living in Texas. I think Texan's stand out wherever we go and we have such a wonderful State history; I only wish we had a "State Dog Breed" like South Carolina.
