I moved out of Houston to Palestine (deep East Texas) a few months ago and live in house built in 1898. It’s awesome and I’m having great time moving in with friends and decorating.
What did you want to do or think you were going to do when you finished high school?
Thought I would go into medical research. Didn’t. Wound up working for law firms as legal secretary, paralegal and then IT department till retirement at 55.
While working at KYOK as assistant to general manager in early ‘80’s, I met many Black artists - Tina Turner, the Temptations, Shaka Khan, Four Tops, just to name a few. It was quite an experience.
Spending time with my daughter Taryn and my granddaughter Corrina. They are always fun and anytime we’re together I feel such a deep loving bond. They are the light of my life.
Enjoy the people in your life. Make memories that will make you smile in those times when you’re alone. Above all, thank God every day for your many blessings.
Is there a moment in your life that stands out? A moment that defines who you are? Other than kids being born or your wedding day.
Cooking Thanksgiving 2004. I had survived advanced cancer. Mother, Taryn and I worked together. Three generations honoring family and friends. Laughing and making family favorites. Little Corrina toddling underfoot. Another generation absorbing family traditions. It was very special.
