Just a heads up for classes of 1969, 1970 and 1971 about Class of 1970 50th Reunion...

Please do not mail any checks after March 18 or they may not get to me to get you registered.  Please just plan on paying at the door.  We would still love to see you there, but our mail service is not all that dependable to guarantee me receiving it in mailed after that date.  Might be a good idea to sent me an e-mail that it is in the mail so I can look for it.  warren_carol@att.net   Thanks!

There comes a time in our lives that we should stop and reflect on our past. Our Memories of times and people gone. It may be sad at times to remember all those loved ones and friends that are no longer with us..............However, to remember them and have memories of them is what keeps them alive and in our minds and hearts....Sad as it may be to hear, I think it is that time for the class of 1969 ~ 1970 ~ 1971 to stop and remember the ones we have lost and to think of memories we have of them and the things and places we went. We should also take this time to join together with those that are still with us, to talk, laugh, maybe even shed a tear...well no better time to do that then at the 50th REUNION for the CLASS OF 1970!!  Come on 1969, 1970 and 1971 let's get together on April 17th and or 18th...We don't know when we will get that chance again. There is no promise of tomorrow, I hope I'm still here in April. I for one am going... I would like to see all of you there. I may not know you now but this is my change to meet you and get to know you......I am from the class of 1971 ~ and I am throwing out a challenge to all the ones left that were in the class of 1969 ~ 1970 & 1971 ~~  Come join us, come meet us if you don't know us...You come on this sight and we talk or you read what we say, so come on let's get together talk, have a drink, if you drink, dance, if you dance, share a meal together and have some fun.... I for one LOVE to TALK, DANCE, EAT, HAVE FUN.... So my challenge is too come out on Friday April the 17th to the Meet & Greet and or on Saturday the 18th to the REUNION......I want to meet you.....I want to talk to you, have a drink with you, even have a dance with you....SO come on let's have some fun before we are gone and are a memory of days gone by.......Hope to see you there!!!

A Huge Thank you to Carol and Judy for keeping the reunion plans going.  I for one am glad that it's getting rescheduled to September.  After all the isolation and social distance I'll be ready for some home town hugs and get together.  I was not very social in High School ( class of '71) since I only attended classes part time and when to work in the afternoons, but I have enjoyed connecting here on this page.  I do wish more people would post more often.  I was able to attend the 45th reunion and I am looking forward to this September.

Bonnie Artale.

Hey Judy: We moved around a lot in the neighborhood.  My Aunt Iggy Poche and my cousin David lived on Nordling near Fonville Jr.  I lived with my aunt off and on so I went to Fonville and then SH.  Used to hang out on Old Shepard and Airline.  Worked at the hobby shop on Crosstimbers for all of HS.  Northline mall was my main jam... as the kids say.  My mom finally bought a house off Gulfbank rd. I should have transfered to Aldine but kept my address at my Aunts house to remain the district.

Northline mall was my favorite hangout and refuge.  HS was a difficult time for me; never felt comfortable or like I fit in.  Wish I knew then that most all HS kids feel that way.  It's nice to have this forum to reconnect at this stage in life... I am leaning...I had more friends than I thought I had!!!

Good Morning,

Just thought I would check in on all of you to see  how you are dealing with the "lock down" that most counties are now in.

Hope all of you are doing good and staying safe and healthy.

I for one still work and we are considered "Essential" SO I go to the office everyday but no one is allowed in the office. When the guys bring their reports to me they place them outside my door in a mail box ~ I keep my 6' "Social Distance" from them and we are making the most of a bad situation.

I pray for our Country everday and for all of us to make it through this and hopefully get our lives back to what we knew as normal.

If any of you are in need of anthing please let us know.

Together (but 6' apart) we will get through this ~

Take Care

Shirley Culpepper (Brook) (1970)

Hi Judy,

Always fun to hear from others on this post.  With my three year old grandson here from Dallas for almost three weeks due to the virus and daycare closure, I have little time on the computer. He is the youngest of eight grandchildren from my three children.  We are blessed to live in the country, with room for him to run, pick wildflowers, go for walks without having to constantly worry if someone has the virus. Living in Williamson County, Texas, between Killeen and Georgetown. Trying to be extra careful when groceries are needed.

However, we really love to travel, visit the other scattered family. My husband (McArthur HS-Aldine ISD) is much more social in our small town and is having the most difficult time with the social distancing.  Facebook, email, messaging, online church and bible studies have all helped.  Prayers to the Lord Jesus to intervene and heal our land.

2 Chronicles 7:14

I miss the northside of Houston.  So many precious memories of Scarborough Elementary, Fonville JH one semester, then the newly built Patrick Henry, Sam Houston. Teachers that remembered my older sisters Barbara and Kathy and expected me to behave. HaHa.

Rainbow and Buddy's skating rinks, Dotson Lake, Lake Houston, Melrose Park. Standing waiting for the bus in all kinds of weather, Thankful when a parent would drive us to the bus stop and wait with us. Red Cross swimming lessons, where I never did learn to love the water. I can swim, but am still terrified. Oh the good ole days, I sure miss them.

Hey Judy, Hey Shirley;

Say, Shirley.... I think I remember you from Fonville....your last name sure rings a bell anyway.  I too am still working ( to the dismay of my daughter and son inlaw; they want me to just retire--- as if that was so easy to do.)

So I am taking a minute to check in.  It so stinks that the reunion is not happening, didn't know I would miss it so much. Just the idea of not being able to  traveling or visit with long lost friends is depressing.  And if this rainy weather doesn't improve soon, ya'll may have to bail me out jail !

Please keep posting Judy, we'll eventurally get back on here and leave a message.  Shirley, enjoy having your grandson with you.  I am so bleassed to be living with my 10yr. old grand daughter and her parents; don't think i could handle the current state of afairs if I were by myself.

More Soon,

Bonnie

Any plans of having a 60th reuunion for class of 1960?

Hope everyone is staying Safe ~

As the week-end approaches I can't help but think we would all be getting ready for the CLASS of 70 ~ 50th Class Reunion.

This is just an example of how quickly our lives can change. We never know from one minute to the next what may take place. It's nice to have this Forum for us to come to and check in on one another.

What are all of you doing these days while in "lock down", "Shelter in place", "Quarentine" what ever you want to call it. Main thing is staying safe.

I for one am considered "Essential" so I still go to the office Monday - Friday. My office is locked and no one but my  Boss is allowed in, after all my office is in his house.

I have made a couple of mask to wear when shopping ~ although I have started using the "curb side" service at H.E.B. and Walmart in Huntsville, so far I love it ~ I had never used it because I didn't want someone else picking out my food. But it sure has been nice not going into the stores to shop. I may continue with the sevice after all this passes. I do miss going to Houston to see my family & Friends. Mom is goimg to be 97 in July and I usually go in twice a month to visit, but I have not been there in a Month ~ and not sure when I will be going.

Hope all of you are able to find all you need expecially during the hoarding of Toilet Paper, Crazy not sure what sparked that and paper Towels, I admit I'm a Paper Towel Junky ~ But I have been trying to not use as many. If nothing else I think this will be an eye opener of some things I,  we take for granted.

Let me hear from all of you,

Take Care!!

Tillie Crabtree (Rausch) (1962)

Good to see so many still staying connected.  I graduated in 1962 and still keep in touch with several of my friends.  I too am still working and for now working from home.  I really miss visiting with the students at A&M and the professors I work with face-to-face.

I am trying to stay home and only get out to do grocery shopping and any minor things that need to be handled.  I usually do everything on the same day so I am only out that day.  My husband (George) has done more grocery shopping during this time than he has in the 57 years we have been together.

He wants me to retire but not sure I am ready.  Keep in touch and stay safe.

I am with you! Retirement is not what it's cranked up to be.  I retired and made it 2 months when they called and ask me to come back.  I jumped in with both feet!  Hang in there girl.

Duncan McDowell (1968)

Wow!  One day I woke up and I was 70 years old and had gray hair.  How did I get this way?  It seems like only yesterday I was in my 20's and had dark hair.  Each year seems to pass much faster than the previous year.  They seem to be flying by.  I think pretty soon I might wake up one morning and be 80 LOL.  (That's if the Covid doesn't get me.)

Duncan,

I find that it helps if I avoid looking in the mirror.   Then I can pretend I'm still in my 30s.

Wait until you are knocking on the door of 79;  70 will sound pretty young to you!!

Enjoy life! It's the only one that we will have. Stay safe and stay healthy.

Shirley Maxwell (Pace) (1970)

My sister; Judy Maxwell & I are always talking about that Old Person & then say they are probably younger than us.  I guess we don't think about getting old.

04/26/20 05:59 PM #4542

Judy Maxwell (1971)

No We are not OLD!!!

Age is just a number, and remember we come from a Mom that is about to be 97 years old and still doing good other than her eye sight. So we come from Good Young Genes!!  Besides I have some seen some 30 year olds that look so old!! It depends on your life and how you are living life!!

Let's live Life to the fullest....Be HAPPY each and every day ~ Wake up and see that we are still alive!! I don't understand some that wake up are in a bad mood before their feet hit the floor....Get up singing and being thankful for yet another day....

Stay HAPPY And Stay SAFE!!  And if you have not tried Curb side pickup try it you might like it. I know I do.   Even at Tractor Supply yesterday I pulled up called and told them I was there, they brought all my feed and kennel and block right out and loaded it right up. How nice!!
