Yesterday at the tour of shhs,Roy Mudd '68 spoke about the alumni purchasing pavestone or bricks for a walkway entry at the new school. These bricks would be etched or engraved with your name and year of graduation. The cost should be reasonable being our alumni is large. This idea is excellent and possible used as a scholarship fund or other. Anyone know the contractor or higher ups in HISD administration to get this project done. Getting an item from the old building is cool but taking a tour of the new school and seeing your name or a classmates name on a walkway stone is cool too......God Bless......John Huettel '68

I really also liked the idea about the bricks in the walkway to the new school. Heck they do it an Minute Maid Park for the 'Stros, we should do it for our campus.

My grateful thanks to Judy Maxwell for all of her work & dedication and great patience in facilitating the opportunity for us goofballs to get to tour Sam Houston yesterday!
It was neat, joyful, a dab bittersweet, and dotted with a couple of tears.
Thank you!  Thank you!  It was a great day!

Judy,

Saturday's Tour of Sam Houston was very nice.  Many thanks for a job well done!!  What a treat to see those from years past and to know we could still recognize each other!  It was a wonderful day and thanks to the principal, we were able to move around the school and take time to focus on areas where our memories were the strongest.  Appreciate your arranging this event - gathering names and having the sign-in sheet ready for all.

Love seeing the photos you posted of the new building and thank you for all the information about the coming activities.  Judy, your hard and deligent work will be remembered....

With great appreciation,

      Connie Kunz Abel

Caren Reynolds (Cates) (1965)

Judy,

Thank you so  much for the dedication and effort that you put toward the Sam Houston tour.  We all  truly enjoyed the walk down memory lane. The interest in visiting "Ole S H" is proof of the pride for our school, our teachers, and the fond memories that we hold dear.

I do like the idea of purchasing walkway bricks for the building.  Please let the principal know how much we appreciated his patience in letting us take our time and listening to our stories.

I hope that pictures of the different groups will be posted on this site.

Look forward to the December 15 tour, as well.

Judy, many thanks for arranging the tour of Sam Houston.  It was wonderful to see old friends and make new ones.  I love the idea of the bricks an would like to participate if this were to happen.  Also, many thanks to the principal for allowing us to take the tour and the library books that were made available to us.

Even though I did not attend, I appreciate Judy Maxwell's hard work. Also appreciate Charlotte Pate's (class of 1962)putting up the link so people can RSVP for December 15th. See her post #4094
The school needs to know how many to expect so they can accomodate them.

First off I want to thank all of you that joined us Saturday to tour Sam Houston Math Science and Technology School. From the ones that checked in on my sheets I show we had 80 there. It was a great time seeing a lot of friendly faces, some familiar and some are NOW familiar….Mr. Summers the Principal was also at the school and he came in and thanked us for our love and loyalty of Sam Houston. Mr. Andrew Monzon the Associate Principal and our tour guide also informed us that the Law had been changed on being able to rename a school to a previous name and they have turned in their petition to rename the school SAM HOUSTON HIGH SCHOOL.

John #4090 Good seeing you Saturday ~ I too like that and I am going to see who I can contact to see what we can do to get that in place.

Roger #4091 it was good visiting with you Saturday and walking the halls talking about our past.

Paula #4092 Thanks again for the roses…enjoyed our visit also. Looking forward to seeing and talking with you again.

Daryl #4093 Yes great memories and look forward to seeing you at Pinewood Village reunion on November 17th!

Charlotte #4094 I know some don’t go on Facebook but I have listed the school website and where to find the posted they have about the Dec. 15th tour.

Connie #4095 Yes I will post some pictures form Saturday and hope that others will as well….

Caren #4096 SO good to see and talk with Saturday ~ you could feel the school pride around us as we walked the halls of memory! I am going to email both Principal Summers and Assoc. Principal Andrew Monzon thanking them for allowing us to come in and for giving us free books

William #4098 check with the school for RSVP of tour I have the web site shown above.

This is the link they show on the flyer some have got it to work I will see if I can remember where I went and got registered… https:GOO.GL/FORMS/SQ081NS109994VOE3

Pamela Barnett has a picture she took sitting in one of the stair wells …I wish I had seen her do that…It would have been great to have all of us sitting in a stairwell so we could get a group picture. Maybe in December!

December 15th tour is being run by the school so any information you need you can go to their website and look it up. The website for the school is www.houstonisd.org/samhouston I know the link they have on the flyer does not work and some are saying the school told them they don’t have to sign up. I found a good link and did RSVP to be there. I will see where I went land let you know. I DO NOT have a list for December 15, so I can’t tell you if you are signed up or not!

Ok we all had fun now let’s see what we can talk about ~~

What are everyone’s plans for Thanksgiving….and what are we Thankful for?

Judy

As instructed I went to the Sam Houston Math and Science website.  I found a flyer that gave a link to RSVP.  However, the link did not work.  It said the time was 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Dec. 15.  not much more information. I am a bit disappointed but will just show up.

Judy, A friend was able to help me sigh up. We are going to lunch at noon with some friends and  then coming over to the school around 2. But thank you for inviting me. We have to get together sometime soon. I think a picture of several classmates on the stairs would be great. Look forward to seeing you again and touring Sam Houston one last time.
